HUNGER is the first CD on which I combine my German lyrics with music. My own stories and those of strangers interwoven, as in real life, to form short films with their own soundtracks. I used to jot down phrases and particular words that sounded good. Recently, while having a clear out, I found that list of ideas, which I hadn’t taken very seriously, and realised it was actually a catalogue of the radical changes I’d been through.”

For “Kino” I chose very short samples from the soundtrack of “Star Wars”, composed by John Williams, but most of the soundtracks here were composed or put together by Ulrike Haage. You can hear bits and pieces of the works of Maly Nagy, Schmid-Hansl, Aphex Twin, Vladimir Estragon, Arthur Lyman, DJ Cam, Horace Parlan and Roni Size. Marilyn Monroe und Montgomery Clift appear as well, and my “Eatable Poetry”- pieces were delicously arrangend on a silver platter with words from a magnetic poetry kit.
