Dies war die Kirsche auf dem Sahnehäubchen meiner musikalischen Aktivitäten seit den Siebziger Jahren. Häh?

Nicht wenige würden ja sagen, KF und ihre Kollegen sind am 08.12.2023 für ihr Lebenswerk ausgezeichnet worden, aber für mich beginnt die Geschichte spätestens mit meinen ersten Gitarrenstunden in São Paulo, Brasilien in 1975, und war mit der Auflösung der ersten Rainbirdsbesetzung im Sommer 1989 nicht vorbei. Unnötig zu erwähnen, dass letzteres für alle meine damaligen Kolleg*innen gilt.

Mit anderen Worten, es gibt für viele von Euch noch einiges zu entdecken und die Feier rund um das 35. Jubiläum des Rainbirds-Debutalbums und dem Chartseinstieg des Evergreens “Blueprint”, hat schon dafür gesorgt, dass auch die späteren Alben (wieder-)entdeckt werden. Ich freue mich sehr darüber!

Aber vor allem möchte ich Euch ein gesundes und leichtes 2024 wünschen, so schwer man sich das bisweilen vorstellen kann. Schreckliches und Schönes kann durchaus gleichzeitig stattfinden, gut wäre es, dem einen mit Klarheit und Schärfe entgegenzutreten, und das andere ganz und gar zu genießen.

This was the cherry on the cake of my musical activities since the Seventies. Huh?

Quite a few would say that KF and her colleagues were honored for their life’s work on December 8, 2023, but for me the story begins at the latest with my first guitar lessons in São Paulo, Brazil in 1975, and was not over with the dissolution of the first Rainbirds line-up in the summer of 1989. Needless to say, the latter applies to all my colleagues at the time.

In other words, there is still a lot for many of you to discover, and the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Rainbirds debut album including the chart entry of our evergreen “Blueprint”, has already ensured that the later albums are being (re)discovered. I am very happy about this!

But above all, I would like to wish you a healthy and light 2024, as difficult as that can sometimes be to imagine. Terrible and beautiful things can happen at the same time. I think it would be good to face the one with clarity and focus and clearly and deeply enjoy the other.
